Coal Seam Gas Refusal Bill to be Defeated

A GREENS bill aimed at giving farmers the right to refuse coal seam gas operators access to their land will be defeated after the ALP and Coalition yesterday both said they opposed the proposal.
Currently, if landowners do not agree to access, miners and coal seam gas operators can apply to a court to gain access.

The Greens bill proposed that companies be required to gain the written permission of land owners before they could explore for, or extract, coal seam gas.
