Two New Power Stations will be Built in Ipswich and Gladstone, Premier Anna Bligh Announces

TWO new gas-fired power stations in Queensland have been announced on Tuesday by Premier Anna Bligh.
Ms Bligh told Parliament the power stations would be built at Ipswich and Gladstone and boost Queensland's energy supply by 20 per cent.

"They will both be powered by gas from the state's south west," she told Parliament.
"This means they will be emitting 50 per cent less C02 than a coal-fired power station.
"The $3.6 billion investment in power stations by TruEnergy will create about 1000 jobs in construction from 2013.

Ms Bligh said it was the first major investment in power generation since the carbon tax and "proof positive" the sector was not being hindered.
