A Message from Heather Brown

Dear All,
In late 2010 a friend of the Lock the Gate Alliance photographed the image below. He didn't realise that a picture speaks a thousand words. Since this image was released it has more than anything else persuaded people of the evils of Coal Seam Gas. It has now defined the campaign.
Never mind those feel-good advertisements the CSG industry is running on television.
This is what around 70 Coal Seam Gas wells actually LOOK LIKE from the air.
The Bligh Government has plans to allow 40,000 wells across the finest farming country on the Darling Downs alone – and Campbell Newman, the man expected to be the next Premier of our state, has described it as ‘a once in a lifetime boom’.
Clearly, farming and its good, decent people are finished. We have no future, because you cannot farm and you cannot run livestock under these conditions. And we will not even talk about what the coal seam gas industry is being allowed to do to destroy our water right now - or how many chemicals they are blasting down into the ground.
The decision to allow this industry to take over our prime agricultural land was NOT made by the Australian people. It was made by our servants, the politicians. And with every ugly revelation that is coming out of Canberra and
George St Brisbane
right now, we are being reminded how just tawdry and how corrupt they are.
There are many who are still undecided on CSG. How could you remain that way having seen this image? It's our job to get the image out there. Let's keep doing it and persuade every last person you know.
If you love your country – and we know you do - it really is all up to you.
Only people power can win this.
Regards
Heather Brown.
