State Gives Approval For Coal Seam Gas Well North Of Mittagong

A Sydney based company has been given state government approval to sink a coal seam gas exploration well north of Mittagong.

The well is to be sunk by Apex Energy which has a lease centred on old coal mines in the Burragorang area near the back waters of Warragamba Dam.

The company is planning to take rock cores from the hole, which will be tested for the presence of coal seam gas.

The well will be drilled to a depth of almost 600 metres.
