Farmers resist public disclosure of CSG pay

PLANS to force landowners to publicly reveal their private compensation arrangements with coal-seam gas companies will be opposed by farmers' groups seeking urgent meetings with the new Queensland government.
Agforce and the Queensland Farmers Federation oppose the proposed compulsory disclosure of land-access agreements to be devised under the Liberal National Party government.

Farmers have raised concerns that resource companies were accessing their land for gas wells without adequate compensation but the 2500 agreements made so far are confidential.
Deputy Premier Jeff Seeney will meet Mines Minister Andrew Cripps this week to plot a timeline for a public register, while government lawyers decide whether it can list deals retrospectively.
