CSG bid sparks objections

The Department of Primary Industries (DPI) has received hundreds of written objections to a coal seam gas (CSG) application in South Gippsland.

Leichhardt Resources has applied for an exploration licence in the South Gippsland and Bass Coast Shire.

The DPI says it has received 312 objections to the application, including 100 pro forma letters.

It says there are currently 17 coal seam gas exploration licences in Gippsland and another eight in the application and renewal stage.
